This article presents a systematic review and in-depth analysis of the potential for using and modifying industrial waste from the oil and gas industry – drill cuttings (DC) from fields in the West Kazakhstan Region (WKO) – in self-compacting concrete (SCC). The relevance of this study stems from the need for rational use of industrial waste, reducing environmental impacts, and improving the efficiency of building materials. This article examines regulatory issues related to drill cuttings management in the Republic of Kazakhstan, the physicochemical properties of industrial raw materials from the WKO, and modern approaches to their processing and modification. Particular attention is paid to the mechanisms of nanomodification of cement systems and the potential use of drill cuttings as active mineral components or as a partial replacement for traditional concrete mix components. Comparative data on the rheological properties, strength, durability, and environmental safety of modified concrete are provided. An analysis of domestic and international studies shows that the use of modified drill cuttings contributes to resource conservation, a reduction in industrial waste, and the production of high-quality self-compacting concrete with improved performance properties and increased environmental performance.
