The paper presents the results of hydrodynamic substantiation of hydraulic impact system parameters to enhance sidetracking efficiency in tight carbonate formations. The study is based on field data from well reconstruction in the Pre-Caspian Basin. A mathematical model based on the Zhukovsky equation was developed to describe wave processes in the drill string, accounting for the rheological properties of high-density polymer drilling fluids (1.22–1.28 g/cm³). Through numerical simulation, an optimal impact frequency range of 10–15 Hz was identified, facilitating the transition from static to dynamic rock failure modes. It was established that the system implementation minimizes the mechanical specific energy (MSE) and promotes the formation of a pre-fracture zone up to 3 mm deep. The practical significance lies in the formulation of technological recommendations for PDC bit drilling regimes under limited radial clearance conditions (149.2 mm). The proposed regimes ensure a 25–40% increase in the rate of penetration (ROP) while maintaining wellbore wall stability. The research findings allow for reducing the energy intensity of the rock failure process and shortening well construction timelines in complex geo-technical conditions.
