This article examines the linguistic aspects of translating political texts within the framework of translation studies, with a particular focus on critical discourse analysis. The study is based on an analysis of Kazakh and Russian political texts, allowing for the identification of the specific ways in which ideological and power relations are conveyed in translation. Special attention is given to the interrelation between text, power, and ideology, as well as their impact on the role of the translator in political discourse. The article provides an overview of existing research on the translation of political texts and classifies these studies into six key areas: the professional roles of translators in a political context; the mediating functions of translators in political conflicts; the strategies and professional responsibilities of translators; the influence of translators’ historical, social, and cultural backgrounds on the translation process; manipulations in the translation of literary and other types of texts; the critical interpretation of discourse in translation studies. The methodological basis of the study is qualitative content analysis, which enables a detailed examination of linguistic strategies used to convey power and ideology in translation. By analyzing Kazakh and Russian political texts, the authors identify specific features of key concept interpretations and possible transformations of meaning during the translation process. The value of this study lies in its significance for intercultural communication, as political texts serve not only as reflections of ideological positions but also as essential tools for interaction between cultures. The article also discusses modern trends in political discourse research and highlights the need to develop a unified methodological framework for further investigation of this topic.
