This article examines the optimization of maintenance frequency for mining equipment not only from a technical perspective but also from an economic one. The study focuses on the steering cylinders of CAT 16M and 16M3 motor graders operating at the KazMinerals Bozshakol mine. Based on actual production statistics, the failure rates of the components and the costs of repairs were analyzed, and the cost structures of planned and unplanned repairs were compared. According to a four-cycle repair methodology, the exact list of spare parts was defined, and the material and time-related costs of each cycle were comprehensively assessed. The calculations provided a financial comparison of two optimal repair intervals – 7000 and 12000 engine hours. The methodology, which included both total costs and downtime losses, showed that the 12000-hour interval is more cost-effective. This approach allows maintenance strategies to be justified not only in terms of reliability but also in terms of economic efficiency
