The study investigated the possibility of producing a powder mixture of corrosion-resistant steel based on iron powder recovered from rolled scale, using dispersed self-deagglomerating high-carbon ferrochrome (HCFC) FeCr800A as an alloying additive. The initial scale was cleaned in an ultrasonic bath in various media, and it was found that ethanol provides deeper removal of contaminants compared to an aqueous soda solution due to better wetting, more active cavitation, and the ability to dissolve organic impurities. After cleaning, the scale was reduced with hydrogen and subjected to mechanical processing in a planetary centrifugal mill (PCM); a similar treatment was applied to the mixture of the reduced powder and HCFC. Scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and elemental mapping showed a uniform distribution of chromium and silicon in the powder mixture, indicating the implementation of mechanical alloying during high-energy milling. The results demonstrate the potential of using ferroalloys as an accessible alternative to elemental powders for producing powder mixtures of corrosion- resistant steels.
