The article examines current trends in the development of intercity and international road freight transportation in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Based on the analysis of statistical data, the dynamics of road freight turnover by regions are studied, revealing significant spatial unevenness and the distinctive role of the city of Almaty in the formation of freight flows. The dynamics of freight tariffs per ton-kilometer and the main cost-forming factors of international road freight transportation, including fuel prices, spare parts, tires, and auxiliary transport services, are analyzed. The study considers the market conditions of intercity road freight transportation, identifies key demand and supply factors, and demonstrates the constraining effect of competition on tariff growth amid rising costs. Particular attention is paid to the seasonal and regional dynamics of prices for major types of motor fuel, as well as to institutional barriers affecting the efficiency of freight carriers. Based on materials from business associations and the National Business Agenda for Transport and Logistics, recommendations aimed at improving the functioning of the road freight transportation sector in Kazakhstan are formulated.
