This publication provides examples of using the “curvature map” overlay method for studying archaeological artifacts. This function offers additional opportunities for examining certain features of an object’s shape or traces of impact on it. The article serves as a detailed methodological “guide” for working with artifacts in various software environments. Three stone artifacts, differing in shape, volume, and usage characteristics, were selected as examples. The analyzed items include a three-dimensional Levallois core from the Paleolithic era, a flat stone slab, and a threedimensional stone pestle from the Paleometal period. As part of the project implementation, the research team digitizes the stone artifacts and creates an electronic database for potential remote work with the artifacts. Threedimensional modeling offers significant potential for working with archaeological materials and is actively used in foreign archaeology. The step-by-step instructions provided by the authors for using specific software will enable users to quickly acquire this skill. The methodology described in the publication presents new opportunities for working with artifacts made from various materials.
