The Integration of social networking capabilities with Internet of Things (IoT) technology has established Social Internet of Things (SIoT) as a new paradigm through which connected devices interact and cooperate socially. The integration of social networking with IoT brings greater connectivity along with better user experiences and automated systems but develops new security challenges which differ greatly from those in conventional IoT networks. This paper reveals new security attack vectors specifically impacting Social Internet of Things (SIoT) while exploring the distinct security challenges that emerge from device connectivity. Social Internet of Things (SIoT) presents distinctive security risks because its interconnected devices experience attacks that take advantage of their social network connections. This paper explores the weaknesses built into SIoT systems structure with special attention to risks created by direct device communication as well as between users and devices together with adaptable trust management. The comparison between emerging threats and traditional IoT security challenges is made to highlight the need for specific mitigation strategies. This article develops a complete approach to deal with threats specifically related to SIoT while delivering practical recommendations to improve the security and resilience of socially connected IoT networks.
