Optical radar, also known as laser radar or LiDAR, is an active remote sensing technology that uses light in the visible or near-infrared spectrum to produce high-resolution images, perform accurate range-finding, and enable target identification. Unlike conventional microwave radars, optical radar systems use a focused beam of light-often generated by lasers or high-intensity, flow-luminescent semiconductors - to scan a scene. The reflected signals are detected by photo detectors and processed electronically to display images and measure distances. This work presents a comparison between classical radar components and modified systems incorporating optical transceivers. The research includes calculations, analysis, and experimental results comparing radars using optical transceivers and optical cables to traditional radar systems. These results aim to advance radar technologies for detecting low-visibility moving objects-both on the ground and in airspace.
