Smell disorders are among the early and quite specific symptoms of COVID-19, making them an important diagnostic indicator. The aim of the study was to determine the diagnostic value of markers in pneumonia of varying severity, using discriminant analysis with normalised Euclidean distance. The statistical analysis confirmed the significance of olfactory impairment as a diagnostic sign in cases without pneumonia or with its mild course. In patients with moderate and severe forms, the main diagnostic landmarks were laboratory parameters and the results of CT studies. Thus, olfactory impairment associated with acute rhinosinusitis in SARS-CoV-2 infection can be considered a prognostic marker for a more favourable course of the disease.
