The aim of the research is to optimize the current and final contours of the quarry aimed at minimizing ore losses in the subsoil. The influence of the general slope angle of the side and the indicator of the completeness of the ore deposit extraction on the stripping coefficient is shown. It has been established that the amount of ore loss in the near-edge zone increases with an increase in the general slope angle of the quarry sides. If part of the ore body in the bottom part remains 50% outside the quarry contours, then with an increase in the general slope angle of the quarry sides from 29-30° to 40°, the losses increase from 4 to 6.8% of the total ore volume, i.e. by 1.8 times. The real change in the stripping coefficient at each stage of the ore body development during the optimization of the quarry contours in order to ensure the completeness of the ore extraction is established. With a decrease in the share of the unexcavated part of the quarry, the stripping coefficient increases by 17.1% while maintaining the general slope angle of the quarry sides at 30°.
