The growing threat of drug-resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis highlights the urgent need for alternative therapeutic strategies.Medicinal plants have long been used in traditional systems and are now being explored for their potential in modern pharmacology. This review investigates four plant species widely used in Central Asian folk medicine-Glycyrrhiza glabra, Taraxacum officinale, Parmelia sulcata, and Thymus vulgaris with a focus on their phytochemical composition and pharmacological activities. These plants are rich in flavonoids, terpenoids, phenolic acids, and lichenderived polyketides, which exhibit antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, antitussive, and antimycobacterial effects.Compounds such as thymol, glycyrrhizin, and salazinic acid have demonstrated promising activity against M. tuberculosis, including resistant strains. The findings support the potential of these species as complementary agents in tuberculosis treatment and encourage further pharmacological and clinical research.
