The aim of the work is to study the regularity of the placement of lithostratigraphic complexes forming the Ulytau-Arganatinskaya structural-formation zone, which is characterized by a complex geological structure with a wide age range, composing its geological formations. The territory completely covers the Ulytau sialic massif and adjacent structures of the Paleozoic folded region of Central Kazakhstan. Methodology. Analysis and systematization of the results of field research, lithological and petrographic studies of rocks. Review of literary and stock materials of regional geological research. Results. The Ulytau and Arganatinsky parts of the Sialic massif (structural-formation subzones), as well as disparate tectonic blocks exposed among Paleozoic strata (Eskulin, Central-Ulytau blocks, Kireya and Konskaya structuralformation zones), have common features of the structure of Precambrian formations, differ only by varying degrees of their metamorphic transformations, the degree of tectonic crowding various tectonic plates and the intensity of their cover-folded deformations. Scientific novelty of research. The data of targeted case studies proved that there are no formations older than one billion years on the Ulytau Sialic massif – the Neoproterozoic (Upper Riphean). The formation of protolith metamorphites composed of para- and orthogneisses and crystalline shales of the Bekturgan series occurred due to the destruction of rocks of predominantly acidic composition with an age of 834-716 million years. The age of the rocks was determined by the method of isotope-geochronological dating of detrital (detritus) zircons isolated from these rocks. The most ancient lithostratigraphic and magmatic complexes of the Neoproterozoic (Upper Riphean), composing the metamorphic foundation of the Ulytau Sialic massif, form submeridionally elongated, complexly constructed cover-folded zones having tectonic relationships with each other. Practical relevance. The results of studying the stratotypes of the Ulutau-Argаnаtine structural-formation zone are summarized, the features of stratigraphic sections of Precambrian sediments are reflected, which will be used to draw up a scheme of geological and tectonic zoning of this territory.
