The purpose of the study is to improve the environmental sustainability of agricultural land use in the dry-steppe zone by optimizing its agrolandscape system. Research methods. The methodological foundation was an ecological-landscape framework, facilitating the examination of the interplay between environmental factors and the configuration of the agricultural landscape. The research predominantly utilizes geoinformation technology for the development of cartographic materials and economic-mathematical modeling for the optimization of land use patterns. Research results. Agroecological conditions were assessed and classified within the study area. Agrolandscape units were identified based on dominant geomorphological processes and types of matter migration, which is fundamental for evaluating the environmental sustainability of agricultural territories. Using the classification, an agro-landscape map of the region was created to serve as a foundation for agro-ecological zoning. The zoning has been carried out based on the comprehensive evaluation of the ecological condition of the soil, erosion risk levels, and land use characteristics. The identified agro-ecological microzones differ in economic value, relief, and the degree of land degradation within morphological landscape units. An integrated financial-mathematical model was developed to optimize land use structure with the goal of enhancing the ecological stability of agro-landscapes. This model is based on the concept of alternating land use options within agro-ecological zones and microzones. Conclusions. By applying the results from the agro-ecological zoning method, which was based on an analysis of ecological and landscape conditions, it became possible to identify the most suitable areas for implementing dry steppe agro-landscapes in Northern Kazakhstan through modeling. Economic and mathematical modeling (EMM)based on agroecological approaches to substantiate the optimal structure of agricultural land use has enabled integrating ecological and socioeconomic aspects of land use and providing an optimal structure of farming landscapes that ensures the sustainability of agricultural land use. The use of EMM, based on an ecological landscape approach to optimize the agricultural landscape of the dry steppes in Northern Kazakhstan, represents a scientific innovation and is recommended for use in territorial planning.
