On the basis of the analysis of devices with a regular mobile packing, particularly those with a regular structure tubular packing fitted with external collectors, for heat carrier collection and redistribution, several apparatus designs have been developed: a square cross-section apparatus with a packing of continuously connected tubes joined by bends and elbows, a circular cross-section apparatus with a packing of continuously connected tubes joined by bends, a circular cross-section apparatus with a packing in the form of vertical tubes with turbulence-enhancing plate elements, featuring upper and lower ring-shaped collectors with tubular baffles. Due to the conducted studies, graphical dependencies of hydraulic resistance, friction losses, and local resistances on the Reynolds number for heat carrier movement inside the tubes have been obtained. The studies indicate that the hydraulic resistance of a hollow-ring beam with bends and elbows in a square cross-section apparatus is higher than that of a hollow-ring beam with bends only, due to smoother passage through local resistances. For the same heat carrier velocity ranges in the straight sections of the tubes, the Reynolds number range for square and circular cross-section apparatuses with continuously connected tubes is nearly twice as large as that for the apparatus with a vertical tube packing and turbulence-enhancing plate elements. This is because the Reynolds numbers are directly proportional to the tube diameters through which the heat carrier moves. In square and circular cross-section apparatuses, the tube diameters are 2.5 times larger than those of the vertical tubes with turbulence-enhancing plate elements. The lowest pressure losses are observed in the square cross-section apparatus with a continuous hollow-ring beam, followed by the circular cross-section apparatus with a continuous hollow-ring beam. The highest pressure losses occur in the circular cross-section apparatus with a tubular packing in the form of tube strings. Based on the conducted studies, a methodology for calculating the hydraulic resistance of all the developed apparatuses is proposed. It includes equations for determining the total resistance, the pressure losses due to friction, and the local resistances.
