Functional seamless garments include double-face knitted fabrics that combine hydrophilic and hydrophobic materials to take advantage of their liquid transfer and insulation properties. This study investigated the surface friction, thermal, and liquid transfer features of double-face fabrics whose inner layers consist of Nilit Heat®, polypropylene, polyester, Thermosoft®, Viloft®, wool and outer layers consist of polyamide. Moreover, subjective forearm tests were carried out to evaluate the effect of the materials on coolness and wetness sensations. According to the results, Polyester/Polyester and Heat®/Polyamide (inner/outer) fabrics, which provide warmer and drier sensations, can be recommended for cold-weather garments with also low inner surface friction coefficients. While Heat®/Polyamide has advantages for thermal resistance, absorption and liquid absorption capacity with its branched structure, Polyester/Polyester is better at drying speed. Combining the results of objective and subjective thermal comfort parameters for functional fabrics including different materials, is thought to be useful for achieving realistic results for different parts of seamless garments.
