This study examines the use of miscible gas injection for Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR) in Field “X” in comparison to sour gas injection (SGI) and chemical flooding alternatives. The goal is to determine which EOR method offers the best combination of technical effectiveness and economic feasibility. A static geological model of Field X was developed using Schlumberger Petrel and reservoir simulations (covering primary, secondary, and tertiary recovery stages) were run in the INTERSECT simulator. The simulations indicate that miscible gas injections markedly increase hydrocarbon recovery while keeping costs low. An economic evaluation (considering capital and operating costs and net present value) revealed that reinjecting sour gas yields the highest NPV, primarily due to its minimal operating expenses. In contrast, chemical EOR techniques – specifically alkaline–surfactant–polymer (ASP) flooding and polymer-alternating-water (PAW) injection – delivered only marginal additional oil recovery, which is not economically viable given their high chemical costs.
