The authors of the article show that the topic of scientific research is determined by the rapid development of land relations in the Republic of Kazakhstan at the end of the XX - beginning of the XXI century. Statistics show a significant prevalence of transactions with land plots, including a land lease agreement occupies a leading position. In this regard, among the urgent problems of reforming the land legislation of Kazakhstan, the issue of improving the legal regulation of rent for land is one of the most urgent. The use for this purpose of the experience of harmonization of the legislation of the European Union in the field of legal regulation of land rents is of particular importance both for Kazakhstan and for new integration associations (EurAsEC, the Customs Union of Kazakhstan), of which it is a member. A comprehensive review of the main directions of improving the legal regulation of land rents in Kazakhstan involves an objective assessment of historical experience with all the negative and positive lessons; systematic study of the state and trends in the development of land rents in Kazakhstan at the present stage; analysis of foreign experience in solving problems in this area and the possibilities of its use in Kazakhstan realities.
