The problem of onomastics, including toponyms, characteristic of the Central Asian region, East Turkestan, has attracted the attention of scientists over the past few centuries. It is known that historiographies and written sources, letters and maps related to the Turkic peoples have been preserved mainly in Byzantine, Armenian, Arab-Persian, Greek, Chinese and other countries. In particular, there is a lot of talk that Chinese written data is of great importance. Turkic toponomics in Chinese historiographies has so far been translated and reconstructed into each language in different ways, and the sequence in scientific literature and textbooks has not been preserved. The study examines the features of the toponomic names of the Turkic peoples written in Chinese hieroglyphs in Chinese historiographies, the issues of their translation into Turkic languages, especially Kazakh, standardization. The topic under consideration, along with historical science, is also very relevant in language science.
