Summary A quarter of the global primary energy demand is met by natural gas. Gas condensate reservoirs constitute a significant portion of natural gas reservoirs. A special thermodynamic behavior is observed in gas condensate reservoirs. Pressure in these reservoirs drops below dew point due to gas production and reservoir depletion causing retrograde condensation and accumulation of droplets in the porous medium, especially around the wellbore. During retrograde condensation, the valuable condensate is trapped, which reduces the gas relative permeability consequently and the production due to blockage of gas flow paths. Furthermore, the skin factor and well pressure drop are also increased as a result of this phenomenon. A very limited number of research works have been reported on using wettability alteration methods to reduce blockage of pores via accumulation of gas condensate and formation damage in gas condensate reservoirs. The effect of Water Repellent Glass (WRG) nanofluid on changes in wettability of gas-condensate reservoir rocks near-wellbore areas to eliminate the negative effects of condensate accumulation is investigated in this research work. The experiments were conducted with methane instead of air. A new method of spontaneous imbibition testing evaluation was developed and used.
