Determining the prospects for the development of structural systems of space is impossible without an analysis of the evolutionary development of building structures from the mo-ment of their inception. The presented material provides an analysis of the development of con-structive solutions in the process of the historical development of society. The historical facts and prerequisites for the creation of constructive solutions covering architectural spaces are general-ized, the main stages of the progressive development of structural systems are identified and speci-fied in accordance with the development of scientific and technological progress.
