Legal terminology is an element of legal technique and a means of presenting the text of legal acts verbally. It also plays an important role in law enforcement. The intensive development of science, the development of new technologies lead to the fact that certain terms become obsolete and go out of use. As well as the emergence of new terms requires the updating, formation and consolidation of a new terminological framework. The reason for replacement of the term is the widespread use of the new term and the linguistic validity of the legitimacy of its use. All of this can be seen in the texts of the legal acts that were adopted at the beginning of the 1990s. This article discusses the results of fundamental and applied research carried out into the authenticity of the texts of the Civil Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan in Kazakh and Russian languages. The analysis is given of terms that have an alternative meaning. Specific evidence-based arguments are provided on the gaps in the terms of the legislation, the use of which can mislead the public and compromise the authenticity of the Kazakh and Russian texts. Thus, the article focuses on words equivalent to terms such as "norm", "subsidiary responsibility", "epidemic", "epizootic" etc. The author also analyses the most common linguistic errors that occur in the translation process and suggests ways of eliminating them. Referring to the presence in the text of other than terminological errors, the author considers it necessary to consider amendments to the Civil Code to ensure the authenticity of the texts in the Kazakh and Russian languages, and the selection of terms approved by the Republican Terminology Commission under the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan taking into account their application in international practice and national peculiarities.
