This study investigates porous adsorbents derived from rice husks for CO₂ capture and the removal of organic pollutants from water. Activated carbon and SiO₂-based materials with specific surface areas of 2363 and 143 m²/g, respectively, were synthesised. The morphology and structure of the samples were characterised using SEM, XRD, BET and FTIR. It was shown that the introduction of a carbon phase into the SiO₂ structure leads to a change in the adsorption properties with respect to CO₂. The maximum adsorption capacity reached 5.93 mmol/g at 25 °C under the specified experimental conditions. In aqueous systems, activated carbon demonstrates an adsorption capacity for methylene blue of up to 400 mg/g at pH 7, with a removal efficiency of approximately 90 %. The materials were tested on real wastewater with high mineralisation, where stable adsorption efficiency was maintained under complex matrix conditions. The results obtained indicate the potential for using rice husk-based adsorbents for CO₂ adsorption and the removal of organic pollutants from water.
