This paper discusses the diacoptics method for determining generalised parameters of large power systems. Generalised parameters are necessary for various calculations in power engineering, such as estimation of short-circuit currents, power losses, steady-state and optimal modes, transient analysis, and finding losses in the network. For power systems of medium complexity there are methods that are successfully applied in practice, but for large systems with the number of nodes 1000 and more they are not sufficiently developed. The diacoptics method is based on the decomposition of the power system into simpler subsystems, for each of which generalised parameters are calculated separately. These parameters are then combined to obtain an overall solution. The authors propose a new approach, eliminating the sequential build-up of the power system scheme by considering all branches of the network at once. This significantly reduces the number of computational operations and improves the efficiency of calculations. The paper also presents an example of the application of the method on a power system scheme with 11 nodes and 21 branches. The application of the proposed method has shown its high efficiency and feasibility for use in the calculations of large power systems, which contributes to a more reliable and optimal operation of power networks, hence reducing the calculation errors and increasing the accuracy. The diacoptics method proposed in the paper is an important tool for the analysis and optimisation of large power systems, ensuring their stable and efficient operation.
