Abstract To study the long-term serviceability of metal support in conditions of contact with aggressive mine waters, a numerical model of the coupled processes of elastic-plastic deformation and water filtration was developed. In this work, permanent workings with frame and rock-bolt-frame support were considered. As a result of the calculations, data were obtained regarding the stress state of the host rocks and support, their deformation regime, water filtration from the undermining watered seam, and corrosion of metal support over a period of 10 years. It was shown that in the case of using frames as the main type of support, stress state of the host rocks stabilizes within several months, but the area of plastic deformation zones in the metal frame profile continues to grow due to corrosion. The additional use of rock bolts reduces the load on the frames, which protects them from one type of corrosion, namely stress corrosion cracking. If rock bolts are fixed in the holes poorly, they will also be affected by corrosion. In this case, the bearing capacity of the rock-bolted arch gradually decreases, but the permanent working remains in a stable state for 10 years, for the adopted modeling conditions.
