Artificial intelligence (AI) is having a massive impact on the labor market and human resource management (HRM). The emergence of AI-based automation is altering the demand for particular skills and jobs, creating new roles while displacing others. For HRM, AI brings opportunities to automate processes like recruitment and training, improve decision-making through data analytics, and enhance the employee experience through personalized tools. This study examines the effects of AI on the labor market and HRM practices in Kazakhstan, encompassing both technology-driven and traditional sectors. Using a mixed-methods approach combining semi-structured interviews, focus groups, case studies, and survey analysis of 100 participants (HR professionals, employees, and AI specialists), the study finds that 75% of respondents recognize AI’s role in creating new job roles, while 70% agree it contributes to job displacement. Additionally, 85% emphasize the need for upskilling to meet AI-driven job demands. In HRM, AI was most strongly associated with improving recruitment efficiency (mean score 4.3) and enhancing objectivity in performance evaluation (4.4). These findings provide evidence-based insights for policymakers and HR leaders to balance technological adoption with workforce adaptability.
