The considered sources characterize not only the position of Kazakhs, but also various aspects of interaction with neighboring peoples of the region – Uzbeks, Kyrgyz, Karakalpaks and Turkmen. The purpose of the research is to identify and scientifically analyze archival materials that allow expanding the source base for studying the history of Kazakhs of the Turkestan region in the second half of the XIX – early XX centuries. Based on the systematization of documents, their informational potential is determined for the study of socio-economic, administrative-legal and demographic processes, as well as interethnic and transboundary ties of the population of Central Asia.
