Abstract This study presents the results of physicochemical and biochemical analysis of the root resin of Ferula foetida (Bunge) Regel. (Apiaceae), cultivated in the Turkestan region of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The main physicochemical parameters of the resin, including moisture, ash, and protein contents, were determined. The moisture content was 8.84%, ash content 1.28%, protein content 5.42%, and protein nitrogen content 0.86%. The amino acid composition of resin proteins was determined using high-performance liquid chromatography (HPLC). A total of 17 amino acids, including essential amino acids, were identified. The total amino acid content was 621.38 mg/g, of which essential amino acids accounted for 225.75 mg/g. The highest concentrations were observed for leucine, alanine, aspartic acid, and proline. Infrared spectroscopic analysis confirmed the presence of characteristic functional groups of protein compounds. The obtained results indicate the presence of protein components and biologically active compounds in the resin of Ferula foetida and confirm the potential of this plant material for further biochemical studies.
