The article examines the principles of adapting world classical works in the repertoire of the Astana Puppet Theatre, based on the performances “Mowgli”, “Thumbelina”, “Once Again About the Little Mermaid!”, and “The Lion King.” The study aims to identify the features of directorial interpretation of classical plots and their impact on the aesthetic and emotional development of the children’s audience. The novelty of the research lies in the analysis of Kazakhstan’s experience in adapting world classics within the puppet theatre, where artistic solutions and pedagogical objectives form a unique model of aesthetic education. The methodological basis of the study includes historical-cultural and comparative-analytical approaches, as well as observation of the theatrical process and the transformation of literary sources into stage form. The results reveal regularities in the creative reinterpretation of classical works, taking into account national and cultural contexts and the age characteristics of young viewers. Particular attention is paid to sсenographic and directorial techniques aimed at developing children’s emotional intelligence, empathy, and artistic taste. The adaptation of world classics in puppet theatre performs not only an aesthetic but also an educational function, fostering moral values and broadening cultural horizons. The practical significance of the research lies in its applicability to theatre pedagogy and the development of repertoire policies for children’s theatres in Kazakhstan.
