This article is devoted to one of the urgent problems of the history of Kazakhstan – the study of the political repression of the Kazakh intelligentsia, which took place in the early years of the formation of Soviet power in the 20-50s of the twentieth century. The policy of persecution of the national intelligentsia, including the formation of the intelligentsia in the field of education and enlightenment, which the Soviet government adhered to during this period, undoubtedly requires study according to modern views. It tells about educators and representatives of the advanced intelligentsia, mainly from the West Kazakhstan region, who were subjected to Stalinist repression and innocent victims who devoted their entire adult lives to enlightenment. The course of the "Soviet purge" of the West Kazakhstan regional Department of Education and Kaztalov, Ordynsky, Zhympitinsky and Karatobinsky district departments of education for the years 1937-1938 has been studied. The article describes the life path of the repressed teachers, demonstrative accusations, orders, protocols, personal files, memoirs of descendants, recorded on the basis of archival documents stored in the funds of the State Archive of the West Kazakhstan Region and the Historical Museum of the West Kazakhstan region. The study found that most of the repressed teachers were religious or hadpreviously been members of the Alashorda. For the first time, the article indicates the list of repressed teachers according to new archival documents.
