This study investigates the mechanochemical synthesis of bimetallic Fe-Co-MOF metal-organic framework structures and the effect of activation time on their structural, morphological, and thermal properties. The synthesis was carried out by mechanochemical activation with processing times of 1, 3, and 5 h. The obtained materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction analysis, Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and differential scanning calorimetry. X-ray diffraction results confirmed the formation of a Fe-Co containing phase with a low degree of crystallinity. Fourier-transform infrared spectroscopy confirmed the formation of coordination bonds between metal ions and the organic ligand, while scanning electron microscopy revealed a morphological transformation from loose agglomerates to denser and more ordered structures. The most developed structure was observed for the Fe-Co-MOF(5) sample. Investigation of the thermal behavior of AP/Al-Fe-Co-MOF composite mixtures by differential scanning calorimetry showed that the introduction of Fe-Co-MOF accelerates the high-temperature decomposition stage and increases the intensity of thermal effects. The obtained results confirm the potential of Fe-Co-MOF as catalytic additives for regulating the thermal characteristics of energetic compositions.
