A BSTRACT Healthcare-associated infections (HAIs) constitute a persistent and multifaceted challenge to modern healthcare systems, imposing a substantial burden on patient safety, clinical outcomes, and healthcare resources. These infections arise in the context of medical care delivery and are commonly associated with prolonged hospitalization, increased antimicrobial consumption, and elevated mortality rates. The growing impact of antimicrobial resistance and the widespread use of invasive diagnostic and therapeutic procedures further exacerbate the complexity of HAIs. This study presents an epidemiological assessment of HAIs, focusing on their distribution, incidence patterns, and key contributory risk factors within healthcare settings. By synthesizing available epidemiological data and surveillance indicators, the analysis elucidates prevailing trends in HAI occurrence and highlights major transmission pathways. Particular emphasis is placed on device-associated infections, surgical site infections, and bloodstream infections, which collectively account for a significant proportion of the HAI burden. The findings underscore the indispensable role of systematic epidemiological surveillance in informing infection prevention and control strategies. A comprehensive understanding of HAI epidemiology is essential for optimizing preventive measures, strengthening healthcare policies, and enhancing patient safety across diverse clinical environments.
