This study provides a comprehensive analysis of various approaches to countering domestic violence implemented in several European countries. Domestic violence is currently a pressing and alarming issue for all nations, regardless of ethnicity, social status, level of education, or professional occupation. Consequently, each state employs a wide range of both legal and non-legal measures to limit the spread of this phenomenon and to mitigate its consequences. The research examines the provisions of European criminal legislation concerning offenses committed in a domestic setting, and gives a detailed overview of the institution of protective orders, including their types and mechanisms of implementation. Special attention is paid to the effectiveness of integrating modern technologies into the protection system for victims of violence. The study also explores the sequence, appropriateness, and effectiveness of legislative acts adopted in European states. Furthermore, it analyzes preventive and rehabilitative measures aimed at ensuring family safety through state and societal influence on offenders. Drawing on the successful practices of European countries, the authors propose specific recommendations to improve Kazakhstan’s system for preventing domestic violence. In addition, the study emphasizes the need to enhance the legal awareness of the population and to conduct extensive legal education campaigns using social networks and other mass media. According to the authors, such measures could help to partially prevent the negative consequences of domestic violence in marital life.
