The article is devoted to the study of the processes involved in the formation of competitive strategies for commercial banks in the context of the transformation of the financial sector, increasing competitive pressure, and the widespread adoption of digital technologies. The paper analyzes theoretical approaches to strategic management, as well as analytical diagnostic methods used by banks in the development and implementation of competitive strategies. The methodological framework of the study is based on M. Porter’s theory of competitive advantage, concepts of strategic management, and strategic analysis tools, including SWOT, PEST, and SNW analysis. The research materials include scientific publications, annual reports of commercial banks, and data on banking consolidation processes. The study establishes that the formation of a commercial bank’s competitive strategy is a step-by-step process that includes the analysis of the external and internal environment, the formulation of the mission and strategic priorities, the development of a set of measures, and the monitoring of their implementation. In addition, the necessity of integrating digital service channels and fintech solutions into banks’ strategic priorities in order to maintain long-term competitiveness is substantiated. It is demonstrated that consideration of institutional and regulatory factors makes it possible to enhance the adaptability of developed strategies to changes in the financial landscape. Key factors of banks’ competitive success are identified, and the specific features of banks’ strategic behavior in different regions of the world are revealed. The proposed mechanism may be applied in the practice of strategic management of commercial banks to improve their competitiveness and sustainability.
