The complexity and diversity of the Volga-Ural interfluve is reflected in the landscape structure of the Aralsor lake-salt basin, located between the Ashchyozek and Malyj Uzen rivers Aralsor Lake is an exceptional natural site, where the formation of the landscape is closely related to the processes of salt dome tectonics. Against the background of global climate shifts, the arid zones of Western Kazakhstan are undergoing serious transformations. This is reflected in the fundamental restructuring of geosystems, correction of the water balance of salty lowlands, and a serious change in flora and soils. The analysis of the changes that are taking place makes it possible to reveal ways of adapting desert territories to rising temperatures. Local natural complexes are exceptionally fragile. The oversaturation of soils with salts combined with acute water scarcity and the peculiarities of the geological structure based on salt domes makes the area very vulnerable to anthropogenic pressure. Constant monitoring of the current situation makes it possible to recognize the symptoms of land depletion and desertification at an early stage, which is a key condition for protecting the ecosystem. The applied aspect of the work is to ensure the sustainable use of natural resources. There are a number of landscape complexes formed by less well-known but large salt structures, including Aralsor, Besshoky, Ichka, Ashchykuduk and Azgir. In general, there are about 2000 salt domes within the Caspian basin. Lack of up-to-date information about the behavior of landscape systems can lead to an environmental crisis in the course of their development. Therefore, the collection of reliable scientific data on the dynamics of the Aralsor basin is the foundation for the development of environmental safety strategies and territory planning.
