In the present study, an integrated approach for assessing the stress–strain state of a rock mass was developed and tested by combining ground-based radar interferometry (GB-SAR) and three-dimensional finite element modeling (FEM) in Rocscience RS3. The methodology was applied to the southern wall of the Vostochnaya Saryoba open pit, characterized by intense fracturing and heterogeneous geological conditions. GB-SAR monitoring revealed a localized zone of progressive displacements in the lower slope, indicating the onset of instability. Comparison of radar observations with the initial FEM model demonstrated the need for calibration of rock mass strength properties. Inverse analysis was employed to determine mechanical parameters consistent with observed deformation and accounting for the influence of fracturing, scale effects, and structural weakening. The calibrated model, with a strength reduction factor (SRF) of 2.72, reproduced displacement magnitudes and the distribution of plastic zones. Integration of measurements and numerical simulations enabled identification of the deep-seated geometry of a potential slip surface and interpretation of mechanisms governing deformation development. The findings confirm that the combined application of GB-SAR and 3D FEM is an effective tool for geomechanical diagnostics, enhancing the reliability of slope stability prediction and supporting early detection of deformation zones under complex geological conditions.
