The article proposes a method for determining the failure-free operation of equipment at power plants based on the analysis of failure intensity and the life-cycle characteristics of the equipment. Failure-free operation is considered a key reliability indicator that determines the efficiency and safety of power equipment operation. A probabilistic approach is used to assess failure-free operation, employing indicators such as the probability of failure-free operation, the probability of failure, and the failure rate. To describe equipment aging processes, the normal distribution law is applied, which makes it possible to analytically evaluate changes in the failure rate over time. The features of failure-free operation of repairable equipment are considered with allowance for scheduled maintenance. The influence of the maintenance interval on the failure frequency is analyzed, and it is shown that with a rationally chosen maintenance periodicity, aging equipment approaches the characteristics of a non-aging object, whereas an increase in the maintenance interval leads to a sharp decrease in reliability.
