Perception plays a vital role in our understanding of other people, cultures, and events. Information processing, while influenced by individual differences, occurs within and is mediated by prevailing sociocultural processes. Within each culture, and even within a single culture, differences are noticeable, depending on age and social class differences, and studying these differences allows us to identify cross-cultural trends, which contributes to better information transfer. This paper examines the process of collecting and processing international news by a group of Chinese students over a three-month period. The study examines both the students' learning habits and approaches to information acquisition, as well as their perspective on the international situation based on the news items they analyze. This study examines the role of perception in information processing and international relations, using social experiment and opinion survey methodology to analyze how Chinese university students select and interpret international news. This study highlights the importance of culturally determined frames in shaping cognitive filters and describes current trends in learning habits, perceptions of global events, and their interpretations by young people. This study has three important implications. First, the study informs students' approaches to educational practices at higher education institutions. Second, it helps identify optimal strategies for disseminating news and communicating it to a wider audience. Third, it presents a group of Chinese students' perspectives on intercultural understanding in public diplomacy and international affairs. Overall, this comprehensive study describes a shift in the educational environment among students and a tendency toward more superficial assignment completion, despite the continued high prestige of teachers and education. It confirms a trend toward interest in areas that are familiar to the group's everyday life. It emphasizes the desire of Chinese students, despite viewing China as a role model on the international stage, to see the world as equal partners for China, whose opinions are worthy of consideration.
