The article discusses the United Arab Emirates (UAE) government programs for developing research and its achievements in science. This study's main research question is whether or not public policy in research and development is effective in the UAE. Our findings show that, due to government support of science and research, the country could achieve significant results in a knowledge-based economy. The authors used document analysis, a literature review, and quantitative methods in this study. The data for this study were collected from peer-reviewed academic journals, available official records on their websites, and official reports.
