This paper proposes a simple, cost-effective approach to emulate a tissue-equivalent liquid body models (phantom) operating at the medical body area network band (MBAN, 2.36 – 2.4 GHz). Homogeneous and skin models in liquid form are realized in this work. The conformal mapping approach determines one of the key parameters: the relative dielectric constant (εr) of liquid. The proposed method is a narrow-band estimation process. The another key parameter, i.e., the dielectric conductivity (σd), is determined based on the attenuation constant (αd) of the EM wave propagating through the liquid. In this work, the homogeneous model consists of 30% sugar and 2% salt by weight in 250 g of water, whereas the skin model comprises 7% water in 250 g of glycerine. A measurement procedure requiring a vector network analyzer (VNA) is developed and then used to carry out all the measurements on the developed models.
