The article is devoted to one of the little-studied problems in the history of children's and women's camp everyday life in the GULAG in the first decade of the formation of the Gulag system in the USSR. In the Karaganda Corrective Labor Camp, one of the first and largest agricultural camps, women and children were among the prisoners. Based on the materials of the archives of the Russian Federation (State Archives of the Russian Federation, collection 9414) and the Republic of Kazakhstan (Archive of the Office of the Committee for Legal Statistics and Special Records of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan for the Karaganda Region, collection 16 (Karlag Archive)) the medical and sanitary services in the 1930s are analyzed. The harshest conditions of imprisonment of the most vulnerable (especially children) contingents, the low level of health care, the shortage of medical personnel, drugs, etc. led to high mortality rates in Karlag.
