This paper presents the results of practical vulnerability analysis of Wi-Fi (WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPA3) and LTE wireless networks in the context of designing a secure smartphone. The research was conducted using a set of tools, including Aircrack-ng, Wireshark, YateBTS and software-defined radio BladeRF 2.0, which allowed to study in detail the attack mechanisms and resistance of modern protocols to various types of threats. The experimental part included the development of specialised testbeds and automated scripts for attack modelling and penetration testing in a controlled laboratory environment. The analysis showed that the WEP protocol has critical vulnerabilities and can be compromised in as little as 4 seconds by key brute force based on a weakness in the RC4 algorithm. WPA2 was vulnerable to interception and re-authentication attacks, making it possible to launch man-in-the-middle (MITM) attacks and steal session data. Despite the improvements, WPA3 also shows vulnerability to side-channel attacks, including the Dragonblood attack based on response time analysis of authentication errors.LTE, on the other hand, remains susceptible to International Mobile Subscriber Identity Intercept (IMSI Catching), 3G/2G downgrade attacks, and the creation of fake base stations. These attack vectors allow attackers to intercept traffic, track user movements and initiate denial of service. In addition to technical analysis, approaches to integrating additional layers of defence are discussed, including the use of VPN tunnelling, multi-factor authentication, real-time activity monitoring and firmware protection. The results highlight the urgency of moving towards more secure communication protocols and developing new security architectures for mobile devices. This work contributes to increasing the resilience of wireless communications to modern cyber threats.
