A necessary factor in increasing the productivity of animals is to provide them with the necessary amount of good-quality drinking water. Water that meets zootechnical requirements is crucial for the growth and development of animals, creating conditions to ensure maximum productivity of livestock. An analysis of the water quality of pasture irrigation sources in the West Kazakhstan region has shown that water sources are widespread in the region, whose waters do not meet the hardness and mineralization requirements for livestock watering. Water from these sources can be used after appropriate purification and reduction of quality indicators to acceptable values. We propose the use of siliceous rock from a deposit in the West Kazakhstan region as a sorbent for use in the technology of purification and desalination of water mineralized to a certain extent.Due to the high adsorption, ion exchange and filtration properties of flanks, the advent of methods for regulating their geometric structure and the chemical nature of the surface, and the presence of large industrial deposits in Western Kazakhstan, studies have been conducted on the possibility of modifying flanks to use natural minerals in water treatment. The conducted studies allow us to recommend siliceous rock from the Tuskali deposit in the West Kazakhstan region as a feedstock for producing a highly effective sorbent based on it for desalination and purification of highly mineralized groundwater
